  • We need a safe and stable environment to flourish and be fully present for our community.

    Resident Wellbeing

We are looking for a place we can invest in the land, the community and, each other, while still having the flexibility to come and go.

    Socially Supportive

We recognize that we can give the most to our community when we are supported by the right mix of privacy and shared space.

    Public Access

As stewards of the land, we want to open it up for the benefit of the community, by having events and sharing control of some spaces with outside groups.

    Collaborative

We are strongest when we are linked in the web of other organizations, like land trusts, cooperatives, and community groups, to be a part of the larger movement to transform how we relate to our land.

  • We believe that everyone deserves safe housing and land should be taken off the speculative market. We want the freedom and responsibility to collectively own and operate our homes without landlords.

    Affordable

We seek to meet people where they are at by using sliding scale proportional to resources. A member of the housing co-op who qualifies for a mortgage will lease the property to the co-op, not requiring residents to pay the upfront costs of the down payment or qualify for a mortgage.

    Democratic

Residents should collectively control their own fees and property through a one-member-one-vote democratic cooperative. Using structures such as Sociocracy and group conflict mediation can help us fully show up for this process.

    Accessible

Respond to different needs and lifestyles and support a diversity of thought, background, class, generations, and more.

    Just

We understand that the this land has been under colonial occupation for centuries. We see that the “modern” understanding of land and housing as a speculative resource, to be accumulated and profited from, prevents us from recognizing our mutually responsible relationship with it. We seek to learn from this history and the indigenous people of this land to understand our proper place within it.

  • We believe in regenerative systems to support abundance and resilience as part of a just transition away from an extractive economy in this era of climate disruption.

    Regenerative Agriculture

Grow food for ourselves and our community while bolstering healthy ecosystems for generations to come. We envision a small scale CSA farm and public forest garden with edible perennials.

    Small eco-friendly homes

Build healthy homes that are energy efficient, passive solar, locally sourced materials. Have smaller structures like tiny houses or yurts and share resources in common spaces.

    Closed-Loop Systems

Rely on renewable energy as much as possible, bike and share transportation, and minimize waste through a free store/swap center.

    Conservation

Ensure long term community conservation through partnership with a local community land trust

  • Housing is more than just a place to live. Our homes can help us slow down and inspire joy. The possibilities of what we can create together when we have what we need (safety, stability, quality homes) are infinite.

    Community Projects

Gathering spaces for events, free store, trails, junk playground.

    Art

Space for artistic exploration and beauty, like an outdoor sculpture garden.

    Businesses

Residents could generate income on the property, for example a cafe, farm, building workshop, or leasing land.

    Joy

Freedom to play, experiment, and have fun.
